Can there be a Particle X?
Before I begin, I believe I should clarify that this is something that I came up with, all by myself a few nights ago while I sat on the roof of my house looking at the stars. I say that not because I want to put my stamp on it but to clarify that this might be wrong. Irrespective of this, I think it is an exciting and novel concept, and I hope it is at least partly correct.
I believe there exists a particle X which is the fundamental sub-atomic particle that even makes up quarks and leptons. It has fundamental sub-atomic properties such as — it is massless, moves at the speed of light, and dimensionless (more or less.) It creates an X field that enables it to interact with its surroundings.
When a particle X comes into the field of influence with another particle X, three things can happen.
- either they collide with each other,
- move away from each other, or
- stay in the presence of each other in a stable/semi-stable orbit.
If the two collide, they go through each other because they have no physical form. If they move away from each other, they will reach a point where they stop influencing each other. But if they stay in a stable orbit, then something interesting happens. The two X particles revolve around each other at the speed of light, which effectively means that they come back to the origin instantly after completing a revolution. And since it is a subatomic particle, its orbit is not circular orbit wrt the other particle X. It has a waveform, making its orbit look like a circular rubber band vibrating.
Now, only two X particles don’t have to stay in this orbit. These could be complex n X-particle systems! And here is the interesting part. There could be shapes that perfectly form a tiny volume inside the orbits of X particles, a space-time void causing a potential difference between outside the orbit of X particles and inside. But even if that is the case, there would be tons of shapes in which this tiny volume is not entirely closed and leave out a tiny bit of gap, which would provide an entry for space-time to seep in and equalise the potential difference.
In some cases, the attempt to equalise this difference would put the whole particle system in a stable/near stable state. These X particle orbital system would have dimension, effectively giving rise to dimensionality from directionlessness. And since they are pulling on space-time, they would behave similarly to how mass behaves in space-time, effectively giving rise to mass from masslessness.
These different X particle systems configurations may constitute the building blocks of all things matter, energy, or anything else of significance in the universe, except perhaps the space-time vacuum — I mean the great void. There is no way to study the void, and we turn it into un-void just by observing it.
The existence of particle X, of course, assumes that the speed of light is a universal constant. Two stable particles over aeons can become unstable and influence other particles. Time is not born out of these particles. But these particles could affect Time.
Time is effectively a unidirectional dimension from outside towards the objects, which is quite similar to what we see in the universe. Everything we observe has happened in our past. The speed of light is not instantaneous. Hence it takes a fraction of a second for us to notice the world around us, which is effectively past coming towards us at the speed of light. That’s not it. Gravity seems to impact the passage of time, making it go slower, pulling and stretching it. This would make sense as well, as Time should appear to be stretched most when you come closer to the point of the potential difference! Just like it would be for particle X.
Or perhaps it can even be said that Time is the interim stage between unperturbed to unperturbed n-dimensional particle X. The concept of Time is irrelevant before Big Bang (before mass came into being) because it was an unperturbed state, and hence there was no time.
These fundamental X-particles could make up everything. They turn into quarks, leptons, in turn making electron, protons, neutron, photon, etc. How the X-particles revolve around each other may be what give spins to the quarks and leptons. And more importantly, this X-particle marries the String Theory and Theory of Relativity.
What I like most about this is that.
- It does not need a Big Bang for the creation of the universe, just the creation of Time as we know it. (I have some more crazy theories about that)
- What makes a black-hole may be a different kind of particle, which is part of the superset containing all the particles we know and one or more particles that are black-hole particles. This particle may even exist in more than 3 dimensions.
- This may explain how an electron released a photon when it falls from an excited state to a low energy state. (I need to explore this further)
- Particle X could even be a photon, making theorising and proving this a lot easier.
- Time does not exist!!!
- Universe is endless
- The universe is part of a multiverse.
This needs further study. I wish I had paid more attention to modern physics in school and maybe even had pursued astrophysics or quantum field theory in college. I wanted to share this idea because I do not have all the tools to turn it into something that might have some importance. Still, it might make sense to someone else who has the right background and proper tools.
I have a few more ideas to turn this into something that makes a little more sense. I’ll keep exploring those angles. Or maybe this is not as novel an idea as I had thought, and I am just reinventing the wheel, even perhaps reiterating a theory that is already proven false.
I want to study the existing literature starting from the fundamentals to see if this makes sense. If you have any recommendations for me to check out, it would really help me. If some books and papers talk about this idea or explore it, please bring them to my attention.
Maybe I am just making a fool out of myself. But I got to put it out there.
